Beginning 1889, John Hermann (Gross Papa) Began the Hermann Safe company. Following the Great Earth Quake he realized his special skills in helping folks recover and protect their valuables.

His business grew under his commitment to customer service and best business practices. This integrity of leadership continued to his grandson John Hermann Jr. and led to the largest safe manufacturer on the west coast. His business acumen expanded into commercial real estate. Hermco's history is part of the fabric of San Francisco.
